The Bismarck Riverfront Idea
The Bismarck Riverfront Idea is organized as two separate plans. The “Comprehensive Vision” describes a series of broad-stroke recommendations for public use areas throughout the study area. These recommendations align with the objectives developed from project research and stakeholder input. The “River District Focus Area” outlines more specific improvement recommendations for the area between Pioneer Park and Sertoma Park. Recommendations include renovation, expansion, and/or redevelopment of existing public use areas. Additionally, three Game-Changing Projects have been identified in the “River District Focus Area” that would be most transformative for Bismarck’s riverfront. Those Game-Changing Projects are further described at the bottom of this page.

GAME CHANGING PROJECTS
The consultant team has identified three “Game-Changing” Projects that will make the most immediate impact on the Bismarck riverfront. The inclusion of a marquee hotel destination would support existing tourism destinations in the area and encourage further activation of Bismarck’s riverfront. An amphitheater hosting regional touring acts would add to tourism dollars spent in the community. Creation of a festival grounds would create a programmable community destination that is needed to bolster Bismarck’s identity as a river community.
